About this opportunity
The Ethel B. Brennan Nursing Scholarship is granted to a student entering the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at UPEI who completed their secondary education at a PEI high school. This entrance award recognizes students pursuing nursing education at the university level. The scholarship was established by David M Brennan CPA, CA (UPEI BBA '86) as a gift to his mother, Ethel (Mickey) Brennan, for one of her milestone birthdays. Ethel Brennan graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing and obtained her RN designation in 1960. Her nursing career was spent in Charlottetown and mainly focused in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the hospital nurseries. She was the proud recipient of the Dr. J.H. O'Hanley Award of Excellence for her work caring for Island children. She had the opportunity to work with Dr. J.H. O'Hanley at the Charlottetown Clinic and served as President of the Charlottetown Hospital Nurses Alumni and Charlottetown Hospital Auxiliary, spending many hours volunteering at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
