About this opportunity
This scholarship was established by George McElveen III in memory of his mother Ethel Leona Plowden McElveen, in order to support students from Scotland in their studies at St Andrews. The scholarship forms part of the Wardlaw Scholarship scheme, established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to academically gifted students who would otherwise struggle with the cost of studying at the University of St Andrews. The award provides £4,400 per year paid as maintenance but can be used towards University accommodation fees. Maintenance is paid in ten monthly instalments directly to the student's bank account from September to May, with a double payment in February. This award is paid annually for the duration of the student's undergraduate programme. Selection is based on financial need and donor-specific criteria, and students must provide household income documentation as part of the application process.
