About this opportunity
The Eugene Goossens Conducting Fellowship is a scholarship for students studying conducting at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney. Established in 2023, this scholarship assists students undertaking full-time coursework or research degrees in conducting. The scholarship is awarded to proven young orchestral conductors in the professional musical world who have completed previous studies in conducting. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand residents for not less than three years. The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Recipients must conduct orchestras, choirs and ensembles of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music both in rehearsal and performance whilst holding this scholarship. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance.
