About this opportunity
The Eugene J. Andolsek Memorial Scholarship honors Eugene Andolsek, a gifted self-taught artist who was unable to pursue higher education due to family circumstances. Eugene spent years creating intricate and complex artwork at his kitchen table using compass, ruler, inks and graph paper. His work was featured in the 'Obsessive Art' exhibition at the American Folk Art Museum in New York in 2005, when he was 84 years old, garnering critical acclaim. This memorial scholarship was established from the proceeds of Eugene's vast portfolio to enable young students to continue their education in a way he was never able to. The scholarship provides significant value and is renewable for up to 4 years of post-secondary education, supporting first-generation students in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania who demonstrate passion and dedication to their degree pursuit, whether in academics or art-related fields. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout their studies.
