About this opportunity
The Eugenie Ann Pineau Memorial Awards are awarded to two students entering the Gateway Program at UPEI (formerly known as the Transitions Program). The awards are based on financial need and are potentially renewable for one year based on available funding. This bursary was established through a generous donation by Francis Lefaivre, a resident of Calgary, Alberta, at the University of Prince Edward Island to support worthy applicants entering the Transition Program at UPEI. The bursary is created in memory of his mother, Eugenie Ann Pineau, who graduated in 1909 from Prince of Wales College, one of UPEI's predecessor institutions. Miss Pineau successfully pursued her education under very difficult financial circumstances. Immediately after graduating, she migrated to Alberta where she became a life-long educator along with raising a family of five children.
