About this opportunity
Exploring Psychoanalysis is a nine-month educational program designed as an introduction to psychoanalytic thought for graduate students, therapists, advanced trainees, academics, professionals, and artists. The program offers monthly seminars with senior analysts, monthly mentorship access with Institute Faculty members, and four opportunities to participate in case conferences. Students meet monthly on Saturday mornings from September through May, with all sessions including a 2-hour CEU-eligible lecture and four sessions including an optional 1.5-hour case conference. The curriculum covers core psychoanalytic concepts including readings from Freud, Self Psychology, Winnicott, and Relational Theorists, with focus on transference, countertransference, defense, conflict, enactment, and trauma. Monthly meetings with mentors can be used for discussing papers, clinical material, or career interests. Students in clinical practice may present and receive feedback on their own clinical work. The program serves as an essential entry point to the psychoanalytic lifelong learning community that the Institute nurtures, with approximately 20 students enrolled. Students are invited as guests to select scientific meetings and continuing education programs during the year.
