About This Opportunity

This scholarship supports pre-final year students who wish to undertake an internship that complements their studies in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students experiencing financial hardship who have been accepted into an approved internship placement. An internship is a professional work placement that provides students with practical experience that complements their academic studies and sets them up for the graduate workforce. The approved internship must be for at least 95 hours and must be undertaken in the same semester or the following semester from the time of application. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and demonstrate financial hardship due to factors such as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity, low socio-economic status, carer responsibilities, long-term medical conditions or disability, sole-parent responsibilities, regional or remote disadvantage, refugee status, LGBTIQ+ identity, or being first in family. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, demonstrated evidence of acceptance into an internship with Faculty approval, and a personal statement demonstrating financial hardship.
