About this opportunity
The MMLL Faculty supports the PhD community with a modest research fund directed toward two central purposes. First, to help cover the costs of fieldwork taking place (normally) during terms of 'Working Away'. Allowable expenses are research-related costs that exceed those that the student would ordinarily meet if staying in Cambridge, including travel costs, research-related costs, additional accommodation costs, or tuition fees payable at another institution. Second, to attend a conference to which the applicant will contribute with a paper or presentation or to a conference that the applicant has had a meaningful role in organising. These funds are available to current students only, and further information is provided on the applications process via Moodle to those enrolled on the course. The student's supervisor will be asked to verify that the proposed activities are deemed relevant to the student's PhD research, and that costs are reasonable. Students are asked to obtain receipts as evidence of their expenses. There are approximately 16 awards available, with three application rounds per year corresponding to each academic term.
