Faculty of Science Completion Scholarship

The Faculty of Science Completion Scholarship is established to support Higher Degree by Research students to complete their research studies in their field of research or research endeavour. This scholarship provides financial support to HDR students who have been impacted by significant unforeseen challenges and are expected to submit their thesis within 6 months. The scholarship offers a one-off stipend allowance of $7,500 for full-time students and academic tuition fees for international students during the award period. Recipients must be enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research course within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney and must have completed minimum candidature requirements (1.5 EFTSL for Master's by Research or 3 EFTSL for PhD students) at the time of application. Selection is based on supervisor support letters, personal statements describing unforeseen challenges and barriers to thesis completion, and recommendations from school Postgraduate Research Coordinators. The scholarship is particularly aimed at students facing financial hardship or significant unforeseen challenges that have impacted their ability to complete their thesis on time.
