About this opportunity

The Faculty of Science CSC Supplementary Scholarship is a stipend scholarship designed to provide financial assistance to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students who hold a China Scholarship Council (CSC) Primary Stipend Scholarship and are undertaking research in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. This scholarship aims to promote equity and support outstanding postgraduate research students by bridging the gap between the China Scholarship Council stipend and the University of Sydney RTP (Research Training Program) stipend rate. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance equivalent to the difference between the primary CSC stipend scholarship and the University of Sydney RTP rate, which is indexed annually on January 1st. The scholarship is available for up to 3 years with a possible 6-month extension, subject to satisfactory academic performance. This financial support ensures that all Science PhD students receiving the CSC stipend have adequate resources, enabling them to focus on their academic and research endeavours. The scholarship may be fully funded by the Faculty of Science or co-funded by external research grants, gift accounts, or industry-funded projects. Recipients are automatically considered for this scholarship if they meet the eligibility criteria—no separate application form is required. The scholarship is ongoing with no specific close date, and students are notified of the annual value and duration in their scholarship offer letter at the time of award.
