About This Opportunity

The Faculty of Science HDR Supplementary Scholarships provide financial assistance to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students who hold a primary stipend scholarship while undertaking research in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. The scholarship offers a stipend allowance between $5,000 to $15,000 per annum (AUD) or equivalent to the difference between the University of Sydney RTP Stipend rate and the rate of their primary stipend scholarship, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship is tenable for up to 3 years with a possible 6 months extension for PhD students and for up to 1.75 years for Master's by Research students. The scholarship may be fully funded by the Faculty of Science or co-funded by external research grants, gift accounts, or industry funded projects. No application is required, as candidates will be awarded the scholarship on the nomination of the Associate Dean (Research Education) in the Faculty of Science. Eligible candidates must be domestic or international students with an unconditional offer of admission or currently enrolled in a Master's by Research or PhD within the Faculty of Science. They must be undertaking research in one of the eight Schools in the Faculty of Science and be recipients of a primary scholarship awarded on merit following a competitive application process that provides a stipend allowance.
