About this opportunity
This scholarship has been established by the Fund for Acting and Musical Endeavours (FAME) trust to support talented performing arts students who have completed at least their first year of study at the time they take up the award. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of skill in one of the following areas of study: Music (instrumentalists, singers, composers, sonic artists, conductors, taonga puoro players) or Theatre (actors, directors, playwrights, storytellers, theatrical technicians, scenographers). Founded in 2007 in Tauranga, FAME Trust has long provided support for young and mid-career artists, national organisations such as the NZSO, Toi Whakaari NZ Drama School, and the NZ School of Dance, and groups based in the Bay of Plenty such as Opus Orchestra, Youth Philharmonic and BOP Symphonia. Acorn Foundation manages this award programme for the FAME Trust, including six Emerging Practitioner Awards to be delivered across New Zealand through the team at Creative Bay of Plenty. Selection is based on the applicant most able to demonstrate a high degree of skill in their chosen field and show their ability and commitment to have a successful career in their chosen field that will have a positive impact on the cultural life of New Zealand, either directly or indirectly.
