About This Opportunity

The Farrand Scholarship - MySydney is designed to address educational disadvantage experienced by people living in areas affected by socio-economic disadvantage. The scholarship provides $8,500 per annum to support domestic science undergraduate students from low socio-economic areas, specifically those residing in the bottom 25 percent of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Socio-Economic Index for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Education and Occupation (IEO). The scholarship is tenable for up to a maximum of 4 years full-time or part-time equivalent study. All MySydney Scholarship recipients who meet the eligibility criteria are automatically considered for this scholarship—no additional application is required. Recipients are notified after the census date of Semester 1. The scholarship facilitates and supports participation in University of Sydney courses in the Faculty of Science. In addition to the annual cash payment, recipients receive comprehensive support including the University of Sydney Preparation for Sydney Uni program to assist with the transition from school to university, annual USU Rewards Membership, access to the Vice Chancellor's Global Mobility Award valued up to $5,000 for eligible exchange programs, eligibility for additional accommodation scholarships, and access to an alumni and industry mentoring program in their final year of study. Students must be enrolled in a science undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney and must have applied through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). They must not have been previously enrolled in an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney. The scholarship can be held while studying part-time, and deferral or suspension is permitted for up to two semesters with appropriate approval.
