About This Opportunity

The Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS) offers one fellowship to a postdoctoral researcher to conduct original research on topics related to AI Ethics. This fellowship focuses on examining the ethical, societal, and philosophical implications of artificial intelligence as it continues to evolve and integrate into various aspects of everyday life. The aim is to develop comprehensive frameworks for the development, deployment, and use of AI that align with collective values and ethics, while also facilitating democratic deliberation and decision-making on a large scale. The duration of the fellowship is 12 months (July - June), during which the fellow completes a research project of their own choice. Throughout the appointment, the fellow is invited to participate in various CHS activities, sharing their findings and collaborating with other fellows and members of the CHS community. Submissions are encouraged from any discipline, including philosophy, sociology, law, public policy, and ethics, as well as from computer science, provided they are interdisciplinary and engage with philosophical and ethical dimensions. This fellowship underscores CHS's commitment to collaborating with authorities and organizations in Greece and supporting AI Ethics related initiatives in the country and abroad, aiming to strengthen international efforts to develop a common understanding and discussion on relevant issues, as well as highlight the central role that Greece can play in this timely and significant field of research and study. The fellowship provides a $12,000 stipend, year-long access to Harvard University's online databases and resources, and an invitation for a ten-day educational trip to the US.
