About this opportunity

The Fenner Merit Scholarship is a supplementary scholarship offered by the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR) at the Australian National University. It is established in honour of eminent Australian scientist Professor Frank Fenner, who was a former JCSMR researcher. The scholarship is intended to attract students of high calibre to pursue graduate research at JCSMR. This is a supplementary award providing $10,000 per annum for up to 3 years, paid fortnightly in arrears. Recipients must already hold a base/primary PhD stipend scholarship tenable at JCSMR. The number of scholarships available may vary from year to year, and they are awarded annually to high-ranked applicants. There is no separate application process - applicants for the JCSMR PhD program are automatically considered for the Fenner Merit supplementary award. A 6-month extension is available, and continuation is based on academic performance.
