About This Opportunity
Harvey Mudd College awards one FIRST Robotics scholarship to an incoming first-year student who has participated in a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) in high school. Competitive candidates will demonstrate not only leadership in their FIRST Robotics experience but also an attention to mentoring newer members and leaving a legacy for their FIRST program. For students entering in the Fall of 2025 and after, the value of this scholarship is $27,183. This amount was chosen by a generous donor because it is a multiple of Euler's number (e), a special and irrational fundamental constant in engineering, physics, and math. The scholarship is renewable and requires students to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. Applicants must submit an online scholarship application by February 1 and include a statement (up to 550 words) describing their participation in FIRST Robotics, how FIRST has shaped their interest in STEM, and how their view of teamwork was affected by the experience, given Harvey Mudd's emphasis on collaboration rather than competition.
