About this opportunity
The Fishel-Calhoun Article Prize is awarded every two years for the best article dealing with any aspect of United States history between 1865 and 1917. The prize is specifically designed to support new scholars in the field of Gilded Age and Progressive Era history. Eligible candidates include graduate students or new PhDs who have received their doctorate within 6 years and have not yet published a book. Winners of this prize receive recognition at the annual SHGAPE luncheon, along with a certificate and an honorarium. Articles must be published in academic journals during the eligibility period, and submissions are evaluated by a committee of established scholars in the field.
