About This Opportunity

The Florene Dickmeyer Memorial Scholarship was established by Lea and Larry Wood to honor Florene Dickmeyer and express appreciation for the values she instilled in her daughter as she grew up in rural Indiana. This scholarship targets students who embark on an education pathway that can be accomplished with a 2-year community college or technical degree, and who reflect the values of hard work, generosity and community. The scholarship provides $5,000 distributed over a 2-year period to help students attend Durham Technical Community College, Wake Technical Community College, or Central Carolina Community College. Preference is given to single mothers, refugees and immigrants who demonstrate these values and are pursuing two-year or technical degree programs. The scholarship may be used towards any need listed under the school's total cost of attendance.
