About this opportunity
Fonden till Rolf Bergfors minne is a scholarship fund established in memory of Rolf Bergfors, one of the pioneers who worked tirelessly to establish the legal right to personal assistance in Sweden (LSS). His deep engagement in the Swedish Independent Living movement and his visions led Sweden to become the first country in the world in 1994 to establish a legal right to personal assistance for certain persons with disabilities. The foundation annually distributes approximately 100,000 SEK in scholarships for post-secondary studies, study trips, or development projects that promote the ability of oneself or others to live a self-determined life, in accordance with the Independent Living philosophy. The Independent Living philosophy is about people with disabilities being able to live and operate on the same terms as others. The fund was started by Rolf's siblings, Ingegerd and Thore, to inspire and empower others to dare to live their dreams and take full advantage of life. The foundation supports individuals of any age with scholarships for purposes that have a broader purpose than one's own recreation and are not for private economic purposes.
