About this opportunity

This doctoral programme grant aims to build and strengthen scientific competence and long-term competence supply within the mining and mineral sector by contributing to doctoral education. The programme is based on a government mandate from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The doctoral schools must be linked to a university with main and coordinating responsibility, operated by at least two Swedish universities/colleges in collaboration, have access to well-functioning research environments with international connections, and constitute a structured, cohesive training program with joint courses and seminars of high scientific and pedagogical quality that should be nationally and preferably internationally accessible. Each doctoral school must include at least 7 doctoral students at Swedish universities and cover at least one, but preferably several, parts of the value chain for raw materials, including prospecting, mining, mine waste management, mining equipment, processing to metal production and recycling. The school should contribute to increased sustainability within the mining and mineral sector and have direct links to basic research in the field.
