About this opportunity

This funding opportunity aims to give early career researchers the opportunity to lead their own research projects and gain experience in supervising students and/or doctoral candidates. The projects must be conducted in collaboration with equal partners in low- and lower middle-income countries. The call is directed at researchers at an early stage of their career, 2–7 years after their PhD defense, who have shown the potential to conduct high-quality scientific research. The funds will support research on challenges and opportunities that are particularly relevant to low- and lower middle-income countries, focusing on priorities 3 and 4 in the Research Council of Norway's portfolio plan for democracy and global development. Applicants are encouraged to explore linkages between these priorities and develop research questions and collaborations across these thematic areas. Projects must include collaboration partners from low- and lower middle-income countries based on principles of equitable partnership, including fair distribution of funds, joint leadership, capacity building, and equitable sharing of credit.
