About this opportunity

Stiftelsen Solstickan annually announces research scholarships of 30,000 kronor per month to enable time for doctoral studies leading to a licentiate or doctoral degree. The scholarships are intended for registered doctoral students at social science and medical institutions at universities and colleges conducting research in the areas of children or the elderly. Depending on the scientific quality of the application, the number of approved scholarship months can vary between 2-4 months. The purpose of the scholarships is to enable those who do not have a doctoral position (or similar) to conduct research full-time or part-time. The scholarship is a personal/tax-free gift to the applicant and not a research grant administered by the institution at the university or college. The scholarship should be used for studies and replaces salary so that the scholarship recipient can take leave to concentrate on their project. One cannot receive salary from any other source during the same time the scholarship is used. The research should aim to increase knowledge about physical, psychological and social conditions in healthy or disabled children and young people that affect their health and adaptation, or to illuminate different aspects of physical and psychological changes in the elderly that are a result of normal or premature aging.
