About this opportunity
The Frances Dindial Memorial Entrance Scholarship is awarded to a Music student entering full-time studies at the University of Prince Edward Island whose last year of high school was taken in a PEI high school. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of performance in an audition conducted by faculty members of the Music Department, and a theory test. This scholarship honors Frances (Frankie) MacMillan Dindial, who was a librarian at St. Dunstan's University. After obtaining her Masters in Library Science, she became a physical presence and a financial supporter of the Arts community on PEI. She had a life-long love of books, music, and art, maintaining a large collection of classical music on vinyl and paintings by local artists. She was an enthusiastic supporter of theatre, regularly attending performances at UPEI and the Confederation Centre. Three days before her 57th birthday, she died of cancer. The scholarship was established to reflect her grand enthusiasm for music and the arts.
