About this opportunity
The Francis A. and Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken Award is awarded to a full-time Nursing student entering second year who demonstrates an excellent academic record, proven integrity, admirable work and study habits, and leadership potential. The award was established through the Estate of Robert J. Croken of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, in tribute to his parents Francis A. Croken and Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken. Both Francis and Elizabeth were industrious, family-oriented individuals whose lives were dedicated to learning and helping others. They both had a profound understanding of their heritage and retained a special relationship to their birthplace, Prince Edward Island. Francis A. Croken lived from 1887-1950 and was from Freetown, while Elizabeth E. (McNally) Croken lived from 1877-1954 and was from Abram's Village. Robert J. Croken, who never had the opportunity to visit Prince Edward Island in his lifetime, passed away on January 26, 2004. This endowed award continues the family's legacy of supporting nursing education at the University of Prince Edward Island.
