About this opportunity
The Francis M Hooper Scholarship for Medical Research is a postgraduate research scholarship at the University of Sydney that supports outstanding Masters by Research or PhD scholars conducting research in critical medical fields. Established in 2012 by a gift from Francis M Hooper, the scholarship specifically targets research in Alzheimer's disease, cancer, heart disease, and medically related basic biology research. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum rate of the Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship for up to two years for Masters by Research students and up to three years for PhD students, with a possible extension of up to six months for PhD recipients. Successful applicants are selected based on academic merit, area of study and research proposal, and previous research experience. Recipients must be enrolled full-time at Sydney Medical School and maintain satisfactory academic progress. The scholarship follows the RTP application process and requires no separate application form beyond the standard RTP stipend scholarship application.
