About This Opportunity

The Frank and Mary Elizabeth Bostwick Nursing Award is presented to a graduating nursing student who intends to practice in Prince Edward Island and who demonstrates an extraordinary sense of compassion and dedication to the profession of nursing. This award was established to honour the relationship of Frank and Mary Elizabeth Bostwick and their commitment to healthcare on Prince Edward Island. Frank and Mary Elizabeth Bostwick of Haverhill, Massachusetts and Stanhope, Prince Edward Island, had a unique partnership over their 43-year marriage. Mary Elizabeth was a teacher, mother to Barbara, their only child, and a life-long partner to Frank. Frank was a journalist and teacher. The couple arrived in Prince Edward Island in 1980 and fell in love with its beauty and peacefulness, considering Stanhope, PEI their second home. They contributed significantly to Prince Edward Island for over three decades through volunteerism, leadership and support in the Stanhope area and beyond. They were particularly proud of their association and volunteerism with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, the medical facility that Frank and Mary Elizabeth respected and relied on for assistance over the years. Mary Elizabeth passed away in 2000, and Frank, along with his daughter Barbara, continue to visit every summer and remain deeply committed to the community of Stanhope.
