Frank Bessai Memorial Prize in Old English

The Frank Bessai Memorial Prize in Old English is awarded annually to the undergraduate student with the highest standing in Old English, specifically in courses ENGL 409 or ENGL 325. This prize was established through endowed funds contributed by friends of the late Frank Bessai, in recognition of his distinguished services in the Department of English from 1960 to 1969. The award is administered through the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta and recognizes academic excellence in the study of Old English literature and language. Students are automatically considered for this prize based on their completed General Application to the university's scholarship system.
