About this opportunity
The Frank Callaghan Memorial Engineering Award is granted to a second year engineering student who is passionate about the field of engineering and in the greatest financial need. Frank and Dawn Callaghan have a long history with Prince Edward Island's university. Dawn attended Prince of Wales College and is an alumna of the PEI Hospital School of Nursing. Frank, who passed away in November 2022, attended Saint Dunstan's University and completed his engineering degree at Nova Scotia Technical College as a mechanical engineer. He has had a long history of professional services on PEI and has been the consultant of choice for many architects and building owners on the Island and beyond. Kara, Frank and Dawn's daughter, is a graduate of UPEI's Accelerated Nursing program. In 2015, and in honour of the importance that UPEI and its former institutions have played in the Callaghan family's education and careers, Frank and Dawn decided to give back through the creation of an award supporting a student in the UPEI Accelerated Nursing program and a student in the Sustainable Design Engineering program.
