About This Opportunity

The Frank McCormick Phi Beta Kappa Study Abroad Scholarship supports full-time Eastern Illinois University students in one of 13 specified majors to participate in Study Abroad Programs. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and demonstrate strong academic potential. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance for international educational experiences that enhance students' academic careers. Applicants are required to submit a 300-600 word essay describing the anticipated value of the study abroad experience to their academic career, along with one letter of support from a faculty member. Financial need is not a consideration in the selection process. Preference is given to students attending programs where English is not the sole language of instruction, those planning to pursue graduate education, and those with the strongest overall academic potential. Eligible majors include Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geology/Geography, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology/Anthropology, and World Languages and Cultures. The scholarship reflects Eastern Illinois University's commitment to promoting international educational experiences and supporting academically talented students across diverse disciplines.
