About This Opportunity

The Frank Sojonky Memorial Bursary in Alternative Energy Technology is endowed in honor of Frank Sojonky (1928-2012), an entrepreneur who overcame humble beginnings during the Depression to become the first in his family to graduate from university. Throughout his 60-year career spanning restaurants to real estate development, he supported numerous charities and maintained optimism and innovation during his 23-year fight against cancer. This bursary was established by his wife, Carla Cumming Sojonky, to honor his belief in the power of individuals to make positive contributions. The bursary is available to second-year students enrolled in the Alternative Energy Technology program at NAIT. It is awarded based on demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, with preference given to Alberta residents. Students must complete an application to be considered for this award.
