About this opportunity
The Frederick R. Layton Scholarship is awarded to select students enrolled in the Peck School of the Arts (PSOA) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This renewable scholarship supports incoming freshmen majoring in Art & Design who demonstrate artistic merit through a departmental portfolio review. Students must be enrolled full-time with at least 6 credits in their major and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship can be renewed for up to 4 years, providing ongoing support for students pursuing their undergraduate degree in the arts.
Applicants are required to submit a portfolio consisting of 8-10 examples of artwork from the past two years. If including drawings, at least three should be from observation (not photographs). Each image must be identified by media, size, and year of completion in a separate document. JPEG files at 2000px maximum are preferred. The portfolio submission process is conducted through the university's dedicated portal for art and design scholarships.
This scholarship is part of the UWM Foundation Scholarships program and specifically serves students in the College of Arts & Architecture. It is available to both new freshmen and transfer students who meet the eligibility criteria and demonstrate strong artistic potential through their portfolio submissions.
