Frederick W. Schaerf, M.D., Ph.D. Neuroscience Scholarship

The Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida offers the Frederick W. Schaerf, M.D., Ph.D. Neuroscience Scholarship, an academic scholarship made possible through the Catholic Legacy of Dr. Schaerf and his family. This scholarship provides approximately $4,000 annually to a graduating senior from Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Myers, Florida who is interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience or a related field. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, books, fees, and tutoring services, though housing and living expenses are not eligible. Selection is based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, financial need, and an essay describing why the student wants to pursue a career in neuroscience and what they hope to achieve in that field. Applicants must complete an online application including a financial needs assessment and submit transcripts, FAFSA information, proof of college acceptance, and an essay. The scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Frederick W. Schaerf and his family's commitment to supporting students pursuing careers in neuroscience and related healthcare fields.
