Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia)

Freeman-ASIA provides scholarships to U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The program aims to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to Asian cultures and languages, supporting study abroad experiences across various terms including summer, fall, spring, academic year, and calendar year programs. The scholarship is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and funded by the Freeman Foundation. Applications for Academic Year 2025-2026 are now closed, with applications for Academic Year 2026-2027 anticipated to open in February 2026.
