Frieda W. Waugh Memorial Fund (Award)

This fund is held by the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo with final decisions made by their board of directors. University at Buffalo faculty make recommendations for disbursements annually based on application review in this portal. Four equal scholarships will be offered to UB medical school students based on character and scholarly achievement. Must reside in Erie County. Preference will be given to applicants who complete the FAFSA, complete the financial need essay in the General Application, and have financial need. Two scholarships, in honor of Amos Minkel, M.D. and Amos J. Minkel, Jr. M.D., will be awarded to medical students planning to work in family practice or general medicine in Erie County. Two scholarships, in honor of Harold Cowper, M.D. and Alexander R. Cowper, M.D., will be directed to fourth year medical students or post graduate students interested in becoming ophthalmologists in Erie County.
