Scholarship

Friedrich Ebert Foundation: Scholarship for International Doctoral Students

Friedrich Ebert Foundation Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation offers scholarships to international doctoral students from countries in the Global South (Asia, Africa, Latin America), post-Soviet states, and eastern and south-eastern European (EU) countries. The scholarship supports PhD candidates from all subjects except medical disciplines who have been admitted to a doctoral programme at a German higher education institution. Eligible candidates must demonstrate an excellent academic record and voluntary social and political involvement. The foundation provides both material and non-material support, allowing PhD students to concentrate on their studies without financial worries while having more time for their volunteer work. The program emphasizes social and political commitment aligned with the values of social democracy. Funded students receive monthly financial support, health insurance contributions, and access to a comprehensive seminar programme, networking opportunities within student and working groups, and participation in symposia. The foundation awards approximately 15 scholarships per year.
