About This Opportunity

Friends of Kent Churches provides grants to churches in use in the county of Kent (pre-1965 boundaries) to contribute towards keeping in good order their fabric and fixtures of special importance and providing facilities to keep them in use. The organization supports all Christian denominations and all ages of churches and chapels where services are held and which are open to the public. If resources are limited, priority will go to buildings of architectural merit and historic importance. Eligible work includes all works to maintain the fabric, windows and, in some circumstances, floors and monuments. Where resources allow, grants are available for fixed facilities such as heating, rewiring, disabled access, security, kitchens and toilets, but only where a small grant will make a significant contribution to keeping a church in use. Works to paths, steps, and handrails in the churchyard necessary to facilitate access to the church, including disabled access, are also eligible. The program aims to preserve the heritage and functionality of historic churches across Kent.
