About this opportunity
Awarded annually to an Alberta student entering first-year Business at UPEI, with preference for a student from the Calgary area. The scholarship is renewable at $2,000 for study years two, three, and four based on full course load enrolment and academic performance. This scholarship honors Lou MacEachern, a well-known Calgary businessman who understands the value of education. MacEachern grew up in PEI and left school in Grade 7 to work on the family farm before moving to Calgary in 1952. Recognizing the importance of education, he returned to PEI to complete his schooling, eventually attending St. Dunstan's University and Prince of Wales College before furthering his education at Dalhousie University in commerce. He went on to establish his own successful cleaning company, Servpro, in 1964 and became president of Fortune Industries Ltd. MacEachern has been recognized for his business success and philanthropic contributions, including serving on the UPEI Board of Governors and supporting numerous educational and charitable organizations.
