The 'Frivillighets-løyve' (Volunteer License) is a support scheme for non-commercial transport services in geographic areas without regular taxi or charter vehicle services. This grant program is designed to support municipalities and volunteer centers in providing essential transportation to residents in underserved areas of Nordland county. The program covers up to 50% of documented operating costs, with a maximum grant of NOK 250,000 annually. The scheme requires that customers pay a fixed fee of maximum NOK 100 per trip per person, with children under 6 traveling free. Funding is distributed in two installments annually - 50% in mid-February after receiving the annual report and accounts, and 50% in mid-October. Eligible costs include vehicle financing, insurance, service, fuel expenses, and driver compensation (covered up to 70%, maximum NOK 500 per day).
