About This Opportunity

The Fulbright-Schuman program offers approximately 10-15 scholarships for study, research, and lecturing in the United States. Grants are open to European applicants within all academic fields of study, but their projects must relate to U.S.-EU relations or EU affairs. The program is administered by the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America, Belgium and Luxembourg (Fulbright Belgium), and is jointly financed by the U.S. State Department and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission. The program provides different grant types for scholars (post-doctoral research and lecturing), students (pre-doctoral and doctoral research), and international educators. All projects must be relevant to at least two EU member states. The grants support research and academic activities in the United States for durations ranging from 3 to 9 months (one or two semesters). Benefits include monthly stipends (EUR 2000 for students, EUR 3000 for scholars) plus a one-time travel stipend of EUR 2000. The program aims to strengthen educational exchange and mutual understanding between the European Union and the United States through academic collaboration focused on EU-U.S. relations and EU affairs.
