About this opportunity
Applications are invited from strongly motivated and academically excellent candidates for fully funded PhD study in Statistics at the University of Leeds. The Department of Statistics at Leeds is large and vibrant, comprising approximately 23 permanent staff members, 6 PostDocs and 20 PhD students, with wide interests and expertise in particular research groups: Probability and Stochastic Analysis, Statistical Methodology, Biomedical Statistics and Data Science, and Financial and Actuarial Mathematics.
This fully funded PhD scholarship supports research in one of the strategic priority research areas within Statistics. Prospective students are encouraged to contact supervisors directly for more information about specific research opportunities within these areas. The program offers comprehensive training and support throughout the 3.5-year duration.
The scholarship provides full academic fees together with a tax-free maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate (£20,780 in academic session 2025/26) for 3.5 years. Up to 2 funded places are available. All candidates will be automatically considered for both the EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award and School of Mathematics Scholarship. Selection is based on academic merit, and applicants should normally have at least a first class or upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline.
