About this opportunity
Applications are invited from strongly motivated and academically excellent candidates for fully funded PhD study in Pure Mathematics at the University of Leeds. The Department of Pure Mathematics at Leeds is large and vibrant, comprising 18 permanent members, 8 postdocs and 33 PhD students, with wide interests and expertise in three distinct research groups: Algebra, Geometry and Analysis, and Mathematical Logic.
The School of Mathematics is offering a highly competitive scholarship for PhD study in Pure Mathematics within strategic priority research areas including Algebraic groups in characteristic p, Computability Theory and Proof Theory, Conformal geometry of infinite-dimensional spaces, Geometric flows, Differential Galois theory, Dualities in convex geometry, Minimal surfaces, Model Theory, Set Theory, Spectral geometry, SubRiemannian geometry, Statistical mechanics, Topological quantum field theories, Topological solitons, and Yang-Baxter equation.
This opportunity is open to both UK and international applicants. All candidates will be placed into the School of Mathematics Scholarship Competition and selection is based on academic merit. Only 1 funded place is available. The award includes full tuition fees and a tax-free maintenance grant for 3.5 years, along with training and support.
