Funkhouser Scholarship

The Funkhouser Scholarship was established in 2012 to support undergraduate students at Eastern Illinois University who are admitted to a teacher education program in the College of Education and Professional Studies. The award is specifically designated for students during their student teaching semester, recognizing the financial challenges that can arise during this critical phase of teacher preparation when students often cannot work full-time. Financial need is a primary consideration in the selection process, and recipients must demonstrate their commitment to the teaching profession through a written essay. The scholarship is awarded twice annually, in both Fall and Spring semesters, providing crucial financial support to help future educators complete their student teaching requirements and enter the profession.
