About This Opportunity

The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) is a scholarship program sponsored by chemical manufacturers and related industry stakeholders that provides financial support to students pursuing STEM degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). FOSSI awards $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 per year for four years) to exceptional high school seniors, helping to eliminate financial barriers for historically under-represented groups in STEM fields. The program is made possible by founding partners including the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Chemours, and HBCU Week Foundation, along with over 80 participating corporate supporters from the chemical and related industries. Since its inception, FOSSI has funded over 860 scholarships, raised more than $40 million, and supported scholars attending 47 HBCUs across 33 states. Beyond financial support, FOSSI provides scholars with additional resources including the FOSSI Fundamentals of Success Program and the FOSSI Career Success Center, offering academic and professional development opportunities to help scholars succeed in their STEM careers.
