About This Opportunity

The G S Caird Scholarship in Chemistry is a $6,000 scholarship designed to support students who are in their second year transitioning to their third year of studying a major in chemistry at the University of Sydney. Established in 2023 by a generous donation from George S Caird, this scholarship will be awarded to high achieving second year students majoring in chemistry as they proceed to the third year of a chemistry major at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is valued at $6,000 per annum and is tenable for up to two years. Recipients must have completed the 2nd year of a chemistry major (Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry) and be currently enrolled full-time in the 3rd year of a chemistry major within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit, assessed on average marks across 2 or more 2000-level chemistry units completed previously. Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate identity as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, financial hardship, long-term medical condition, regional or remote disadvantage or carer responsibilities via a UAC Equity Scholarship application. Recipients must maintain a Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester and continue to be enrolled in a chemistry major. The scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
