About this opportunity

The GAA (Munster Council) Sports Bursaries are awarded annually to high-performing student-athletes who are members of a GAA Club or Unit in one of the six Munster counties (either in a playing or administrative capacity) and who are attending University College Cork. These bursaries recognize excellence in both academic and athletic achievement and are designed to support students who have reached a very high level of performance in their sporting event. The bursary is worth €750 per year and is distributed in two stages during the academic year. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic and athletic standards throughout their program duration, and renewal is dependent on reapplication and continued performance. The bursary is jointly administered by University College Cork and the Munster Council of the GAA, with an adjudicating panel that includes nominees from both organizations. Applicants must apply through the Central Application Office for admission to UCC and satisfy minimum entry requirements for their chosen program. While students may compete for other scholarships offered by the University, no student is allowed to hold two scholarships simultaneously. The final decision on awards rests with University College Cork and Munster Council GAA.
