About This Opportunity

The Gadigal Accommodation Scholarship provides financial assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students commencing their studies at the University of Sydney. This scholarship subsidises the cost of University-owned accommodation or residential college, helping students live on campus while pursuing their degree. The scholarship was established to support Indigenous students with accommodation costs and provide them with opportunities to engage with campus life and support services. Recipients will have their accommodation costs covered, but are required to contribute $50 per week towards their accommodation. For University-owned accommodation, the scholarship covers one year of accommodation (52 weeks), and students must reapply annually if they wish to continue receiving support. For residential college accommodation, the scholarship covers three years (42 weeks in the first year including orientation, and 40 weeks in subsequent years). The scholarship also requires recipients to engage with the Gadigal Centre and the Mentoring our Brothers and Sisters (MOBS) Program, as well as participate in the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS) during their first year. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of at least 50 each semester and remain enrolled full-time to continue receiving the scholarship. Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate financial need and those from regional or rural areas.
