About This Opportunity

The Garton Scholarship No I for French provides financial assistance to an undergraduate student studying in their second year of the advanced stream in French at the University of Sydney. This scholarship was founded in 1898 from a bequest from Thomas Garton of Clapham, London. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit to the student with the highest average mark in FRNC3001 and FRNC3002 in the first year of the applicable degree. Recipients must be enrolled in FRNC3633: French 7 and maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout the tenure of the scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $6,500 per annum for full-time students and is tenable for one year, paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. No separate application is required as recipients are automatically selected based on their academic performance in the prerequisite French courses.
