About this opportunity
The Garton Scholarship No IV for German provides financial assistance to undergraduate students studying in their second year of German studies at the University of Sydney. Founded in 1898 from a bequest from Thomas Garton of Clapham, London, this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who are taking the beginners/introductory pathway in German. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit to the student who has completed 12 credit points of GRMN1XXX level units with the highest average mark in their first year. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 credit points of German studies at the 2000-level or 3000-level units in their second year. No separate application is required as recipients are automatically selected based on their academic performance. The scholarship supports students pursuing German language and cultural studies within the Department of Germanic Studies at the School of Languages and Cultures.
