About this opportunity

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a prestigious international postgraduate award offered to outstanding students from outside the UK to pursue graduate studies at the University of Cambridge. Each year, approximately 75 full-cost scholarships are awarded across two rounds, with about 20 awards designated for the US round specifically for US citizens residing in the US. The scholarship covers all non-controllable study costs and provides comprehensive financial support. The Gates Cambridge mission is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others. The program selects outstanding scholars based on academic excellence, reasons for choice of course, commitment to improving the lives of others, and capacity for leadership. At any given time, there are at least 225 Gates Cambridge Scholars from approximately 50 countries studying in Cambridge, pursuing the full range of subjects available at the University. The scholarship provides a comprehensive funding package worth approximately £35,000 to £66,000 per year, covering the University Composition Fee, maintenance stipend, travel costs into and out of the UK, visa costs, and NHS Immigration Health Surcharge. Additional discretionary components include Academic Development Funding for conference attendance and Dependant Children Allowance. About two-thirds of the total 75 awards annually are offered to PhD students, with the remainder going to Master's students. Scholars are supported throughout their course length and become part of a global community of Gates Cambridge alumni committed to leadership and social impact. During their tenure, scholars are required to sign in with the Trust quarterly and provide an annual progress report.
