About This Opportunity

The Gen Re Advancement Scholarship is designed to support domestic students experiencing financial, medical or geographic disadvantage who are interested in careers in insurance and are in their penultimate year of undergraduate degree. Established in 2022 and sponsored by Gen Re, a multinational reinsurer, this scholarship provides direct financial support through the final two years of an undergraduate degree. The scholarship offers performance-based incentive payments tied to academic achievement (Weighted Average Mark improvements), along with an allowable expenses payment for study-related costs. Recipients must be enrolled in the Business School, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Faculty of Engineering, or Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney, with preferences for specific majors related to insurance careers such as finance, business analytics, computer science, mathematics, financial mathematics, or psychology. The scholarship selection process includes evaluation of personal motivation, demonstrated equity grounds, and an interview with a panel including representatives from the Business School, relevant faculty, and Gen Re.
